About Me
Hi, I'm Brett McKay. I'm a writer and podcaster based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For nearly two decades I've been thinking and publishing articles and podcasts to help men become better men.
My work shows up mostly in three places: The Art of Manliness, which I founded and edit; Dying Breed, my Substack of long-form essays; and The Strenuous Life, a membership program I've run for a number of years.

A Substack of long-form essays
A slower, quieter venue for working through longer ideas about virtue, character, and the practical wisdom (phronesis) of building a worthwhile life. Includes the Ex Libris series on books that shaped me, Sunday Firesides from my wife Kate McKay, and the Dying Breed Dialogues — edited interviews in the magazine tradition.
The Strenuous Life
A membership program inspired by TR's 1899 address
